given Signal’s position on the matter & previous defence of that position. It may well be, given Signal’s promotion of the Skype deal that people will expect the same from MSFT on the matter of metadata? So, transparency matters, no?

That's fair to a point, but there's a difference between speaking for a third party and answering a question on a topic you most likely have first-hand knowledge of.

Don't use Skype then. As much as I appreciate Signals propagation I always recommend people use the Signal app first before using something else like Line / other Signalings. Still this is progress and I applaud Microsoft for integrating Signal into Skype.
