@whispersystems What can I do if I can send messages (and they are delivered successfully) but cannot receive messages?
Messages never arrive at all, or do they only arrive when you manually open the app? Also, what platform are you on?

They don’t arrive at all. I just noticed that I have some new contacts where it works. For existing contacts I can only send, but not receive anything (iOS and macOS).

oh, and I was just told that my contacts get the safety number changed notification all the time for me…

It almost sounds like another device is registered with your phone number. Have you tried registering again?

Maybe a stupid question. But how do I do that?

clear all data for the signal app in settings->apps->signal->data

I “solved” this by nuking my account entirely. Not the best user experience but that still seems to be the cost of security :-/
