Pretty cool, but how do I know I am really speaking to your SGX and not something that just appears like it?

The enclave code builds reproducibly. Anyone can verify that the published source code corresponds to the remote enclave's MRENCLAVE value.
-
Maybe I need to get more familiar with the details, but couldn't a compromised server fake/virtualise the whole thing incl. MRENCLAVE? [1/2]
-
I understand how it adds "zero-knowledge" to a benevolent server, but how does it prevent an evil one from falsifying the whole thing? [2/2]
-
Remote attestation comes with a cryptographic signature from the CPU. We can't make one ourselves, only the CPU can.
-
Sounds quite interesting, I will read up on it! Thanks for clarifying.

The published server source code you linked results in a 404. :( Is the repo private?
-
We fixed a typo in one of the links. The Signal Server source code is available here:https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Server …

There should be a way for us to chat with others on Signal without having to share phone numbers, like in Telegram.

So you make good use of a DRM technology. Kind of anarchic :+1:

@moxie does using SGX just shift trust from OWS to Intel? (Or whoever made the chip running on the server) -
Don't you always have to intrisically trust the chip vendor?

Why can't the client build its hash table and send it to the server?
