I love @WhisperSystems' Signal but the fact you can't just force a convo into SMS is like, more than a bummer but an actual huge flaw
-
-
You can tap and hold on the send icon and select "Insecure SMS." Or former users can unregister without the app:https://signal.org/signal/unregister/ …
-
You can also choose to let another application handle SMS/MMS messages on Android and use Signal solely for encrypted communication.
-
All of these choices have various trade-offs, but we need to protect against the possibility of sending sensitive messages insecurely.
-
understandable, but I fail to see how adding a simple switch that would affect conversations separately would leave things THAT vulnerable
-
the onus is still, currently, on the recipient to change their global settings (i.e. deregister) rather than a choice by the sender
-
the sender can change settings per message, but not globally for the convo. It's less a security issue and more a UX one imo
