We both scanned each other's QR codes. It still gives me error "tap to verify" when I try to send to him and his msgs disappear into ether.

Are you on iOS or Android?

After a QR scan or visual comparison, if you're satisfied with the result, you should just have to accept the prompt to deliver pending msg.

I'm Android
@torgo is iOS. We both scanned each other's codes (took ages to find that option). Didn't do anything.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
It didn't show you a big green check or a big red x?

I have seen neither.

And anyway shouldn't you be able to send a message to someone who isn't verified?

Signal is "trust on first use." If you have a conversation with someone, and the safety numbers change, that requires manual approval.

I hear your words. I think providing an override option would be a good idea.
