Last week, both @torgo & I attempted to verify each other's safety numbers in person using Signal from @whispersystems.
It is impossible.
After a QR scan or visual comparison, if you're satisfied with the result, you should just have to accept the prompt to deliver pending msg.

I'm Android
@torgo is iOS. We both scanned each other's codes (took ages to find that option). Didn't do anything. -
It didn't show you a big green check or a big red x?
-
I have seen neither.
-
And anyway shouldn't you be able to send a message to someone who isn't verified?
-
Signal is "trust on first use." If you have a conversation with someone, and the safety numbers change, that requires manual approval.
-
yes, I changed phone. Nothing in app to tell me how to convey that to other users. App lies & says messages received by recipients.
-
I've sent lots of Signal messages which have

- but recipient might receive an error. No way for them to let me know or me to explain.
