Thanks! This is fantastic! Sorry I wasn't fully updated. Why the same solution doesn't work for Iran. Are they too advanced in censorship?
-
They block so much other stuff that there's less unblocked content for us to make Signal look like.

And BTW we used the same solution for a podcast app for Iranians and haven't detected any problem until this moment:https://www.wired.com/2017/02/pirate-podcast-app-takes-irans-hardline-censors/ …
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Shadowsocks and obfsproxy use some kind of obfuscation and they work in Iran, can Signal use something like that to pass the censorship?
-
I'm sure about shadowsocks but im not sure if obfsproxy (from tor) works well now, I can test it.
-
Think you'd need the equivalent of a "bridge node," at which point you might as well just run Signal over Tor.
-
It works perfectly with VPN, I was wondering if its possible to add an option to signal for obfuscating its traffic to pass this censorship
-
It's less about obfuscating traffic, since we use TLS as a transport. They're blocking all connections to the Signal service, so we'd need..
-
..somewhere else to bounce the traffic through. That's what domain fronting is, but for it to work in a country there needs to be some...
-
...large unthinkable to block site that uses a compatible CDN. That's difficult in Iran, since so much is blocked and GAE is embargoed.
-
Signal is the only messaging app that we can trust, open source on both sides, and e2e encryption for everything, thank you for creating it
