@whispersystems id perms doc -> allows Signal to "determine" your phone #. "no" by default? Why else ask user to give after install?
@ReFla5h Sorry, can't decipher your question, but the best place for support is support@whispersystems.org

@whispersystems documenation says ID permission lets Signal determine my phone number. -
@whispersystems begs the question of why I have to provide it to Signal after it has been installed -
@whispersystems leads to conclusion that ID permission is disabled by default -
@whispersystems Signal asking for phone number without saying why has a distinct chilling effect. -
@whispersystems if you want people to use Signal for their own good at least be transparent about need for phone number when asking for it -
@whispersystems still want me (a potential new user) to email your support team for an answer? Seems best way to not bother using Signal -
@whispersystems i.e. for users who don't have luxury of technically inclined followers who'll defend Signal's need for a phone number -
@whispersystems I suggest Signal says this (with ID perm enabled by default): "Signal uses your phone number to allow others to call you" - 1 more reply
