So, if I need to calibrate the color on a new computer display, what are the recommend ways to do that? Is the Spyder4Express a good choice?

@tapbot_paul Yeah, I saw that on their site, too. v.tempting if it's a good product. You recommend it?

@siegel figured its better to live with color being off a bit than to worry about it not being calibrated and going down that rabbit hole.

@tapbot_paul @siegel This really depends on what you’re looking to do. So I should ask “what are you looking to do?” :-)

@wklj @tapbot_paul Just calibrate the display to some objective standard appropriate for ambient conditions. :-)

@siegel I've heard good things about the X-Rite products: http://xritephoto.com/ph_product_overview.aspx?id=1513&catid=149 … I keep getting close to pulling the trigger on one.

@JeffLynch Thanks — I actually just ordered the Spyder4Pro but if it doesn't work out I will try the ColorMunki. // @wklj

@yonicozac No worries — thanks for the data. If the Spyder is awful I will return it and get the X-rite. :-)

@siegel I’d recommend the X-Rite products from personal experience. The i1 display or ColorMunki depending on what you’re looking for.

@siegel avoid Spyder, better, if you don’t do photography, avoid calibration at all. Otherwise you have to calibrate everything.
