So, if I need to calibrate the color on a new computer display, what are the recommend ways to do that? Is the Spyder4Express a good choice?

@tapbot_paul Yeah, I saw that on their site, too. v.tempting if it's a good product. You recommend it? - View other replies

@siegel figured its better to live with color being off a bit than to worry about it not being calibrated and going down that rabbit hole. - View other replies

@tapbot_paul@siegel This really depends on what you’re looking to do. So I should ask “what are you looking to do?” :-) -
@wklj@tapbot_paul Just calibrate the display to some objective standard appropriate for ambient conditions. :-)

@siegel: Did you try turning it off and on again? -
@waferbaby /facepalm now why didn't I think of that?! -
@siegel: What would you do without me? -
@waferbaby Be saner, probably. -
@siegel: Well, there’s that.

@siegel I've heard good things about the X-Rite products: http://xritephoto.com/ph_product_overview.aspx?id=1513&catid=149 … I keep getting close to pulling the trigger on one. -
@JeffLynch Thanks — I actually just ordered the Spyder4Pro but if it doesn't work out I will try the ColorMunki. //@wklj

@siegel Spyder's OS X app sucks. X-Rite's one much better -
@siegel oh, too late I see -
@yonicozac No worries — thanks for the data. If the Spyder is awful I will return it and get the X-rite. :-)

@siegel It worked well for me. -
@siegel I’d recommend the X-Rite products from personal experience. The i1 display or ColorMunki depending on what you’re looking for. -
@siegel I use a Colormunki Photo. Welcome to borrow mine. -
@siegel the recommendation I got from a camera shop was spider pro, it worked but I have nothing to compare with
