Has Yemi been tested for STIs and STDs? Is he free of any of these infections? Does he plan to stay faithful to Tolu throughout the duration of their relationship? These are questions Yemi has to answer before he can demand for any other form of FP apart from condom.

Hmmm... Very important and crucial questions.. After all HIV does not show on the face. And of course, one promising to be faithful if at all doesn't necessarily guarantee it. But of course, all these are questions tolu needs to ask herself.

Tolu needs to decide if she wants to just be protected against unplanned/unwanted pregnancy or both pregnancy and the risk of STIs including HIV. If she wants both, she should negotiate condom use or practice abstinence. It's also a family planning method.

Yes, now that's one area we tend to forget. Sexual abstinence is also a form of
#familyplanning and it has zero side effects and protects you from both sexually transmitted infections including HIV and unplanned pregnancy. Thanks for drawing our attention to this.

Tolu should talk to a Family Planning provider in a youth friendly center or PHC. But is she sure about Yemi (talking about HIV has other STIs). Let’s remember condoms have dual protection

Hmmm, very true... Condoms provide dual protection but then again, we agree that she should talk to a family planning provider who would state all the methods and the facts around them. She needs to be guided to make an informed decision.
