More good news for the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine: 1. Protection against symptomatic COVID-19 of 91.3% even 6 months after the second dose 2. No COVID-19 cases in the vaccine group of a South African trial so far suggesting efficacy against the B.1.351 variant

Although caveat to the second point is that only 9 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the SA trial, which has only enrolled 800 participants. Early days and a pinch of salt, but promising nevertheless... https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-confirm-high-efficacy-and-no-serious …

Is that based on a 3 week gap between vaccinations?

These "good news" stories about the Pfizer vaccine seem to keep failing to add a caution about the test interval being different from the UK's 12-week delay strategy. I hope we soon begin to see analysis based on the actual UK strategy.

Is there any data supporting the 3 month gap between Pfizer vaccinations now?

We will know the effectiveness of that strategy by May or June once enough people have had their second doses and have been followed up for sufficient time.
