    A lone roe deer in a burnt forest of Churapchinsky district of Yakutia, east of Yakutsk. The wildfires are still active; more human force/equipment & much cooler, rainier weather should help. The current area burnt by Yakutia's wildfires is over 7mln hectares

    New picture of the cave bear found last year in the thawing permafrost of Yakutia. Hopefully this autumn we’ll get more details like the exact dating from the scientific team... and likely after this summer there will be more finds; our earlier story here
