Most of your program is just standard liberalism. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to learn the history from which you are drawing. You do realize America has public schools, right? That’s good, yes?

My program is the abolition of private property
-
Well then you would be a socialist, but that isn’t what you wrote in your piece nor is it what AOC ran on.
-
You may want to look up "minimum program" and "maximum program"
-
Do you honestly think Cortez wants to abolish property - and if she does, why is she not saying so?
-
1. No idea 2. Could be she gives a partial definition to increase comprehension for constituents Bonus answer: the piece is about what her success as a self-declared socialist and member of a socialist party says about public discourse and left organizing, not her as a politician
-
So you have no idea if shes being incredibly dishonest or not (I think if you really think about it youll know its unlikely she does). Social democracy is in no way a 'partial definition' or on a spectrum with socialism. It is a kinder capitalism. It's a defence of class society.
-
I have no idea of the political convictions she holds personally, as distinct from the platform she was running on. I don’t care whether she’s being honest. You’re very hung up on the policies Stoller named, which I never said constituted a full or partial definition of socialism

I mean I think his point can be rewritten as "the Democratic Party supported many social democratic programmes 40-60 years ago" which is correct; the reason our politics is shitty is that they don't now
-
I mean, we still do have public schools. Lot of Democrats did actually try to break up the banks. Obama fought for neoliberalism. That doesn’t mean there weren’t other factions.
-
Faction schmaction. If the Dems had a national platform committed to an FDR-like set of policies then Bernie and much of the DSA crowd wouldn't have to call these things socialism to distinguish themselves.

The last time liberal Democrats controlled the executive and legislative branches they didn’t pass, or even consider, any bills to make any of this a reality.

Matt is confusing liberal democracy (something many socialists have argued for more than a 100 yrs) with liberalism. In social democratic countries in the north, it is only the liberals who want to dispense with universal health care, education and social security. So he’s wrong.
