The Rajya Sabha approved the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which empowers the government to set up a carbon credit trading scheme or carbon market in India. It should not only rely on strong technical characteristics to ensure credible emission reductions, (1/5)

I just get tired...Tired of hearing that 1.5°C is a "target" or "goal". IT IS NOT. It is a limit. The only real goal is 0°C. And not bad 1.5°C, when we LIKELY tip GIS, WAIS, Tropical Coral Reefs and Abrupt Boreal Permafrost, and get more floods, droughts, heat, disease, storms.

The UK government's ruthless and reckless policies that "go for growth” require us all to ask the essential questions that Donella Meadows - mother of systems thinking - set out decades ago. So join me in answering these questions... 1/n

Hypercapitalism is killing us. The world's 10 richest men have *doubled* their wealth during this pandemic - while 99% of people have seen incomes fall. A one-off 99% tax on these 10 men's pandemic windfalls could fund vaccines for the world says . oxfam.org/en/press-relea

Out of the climate scientists on here, my voice is one of the most desperate and the most like the scientists in #DontLookUp. I plead, I curse, I make myself vulnerable. I point steadfastly to the meteor. Ironically, this limits my access and exposure in the mainstream media.

I'm told by a friend at the epicentre of the latest crisis in Canada that the terrible floods and landslides are aggravated by the fires this summer, which burnt much of the forest and baked the soil, so the water now flashes straight off. It's a classic compound climate disaster

The #NetZero quest is not a zero-sum game.
Three decades ago, India’s per capita income was $300, today it is $2000; our economy grew 10x, but our CO2 emissions grew only 4x. What could the next three decades look like as new technologies become cheaper?
