How do you find an outlet for your passion for your place, especially when you don’t feel you have the money necessary to get started? Is it possible to still see yourself as a developer?

Mike Burke you will be dearly missed. You showed us all what it meant to love KC. What a great great loss for this city. Love you my friend!

I'm through and through, but I must admit has something special going on up in Maryville and has for the last couple of decades.

While we all know that parking lots are everywhere in our towns & cities, it can be hard to visualize just how MUCH of our land is dedicated to them. Graphic designer Katya Kisin devoted her thesis to helping people do just that with this interactive map.

The fountains in Kansas City are a great source of civic pride and a symbol of the city. But the city has turned them off, citing unmanageable operating costs. On this week's Upzoned, host and co-host discuss what happened.

In hindsight, this series was a motivating factor in returning back to KC after law school. I'm sure it had that affect on similarly situated folks in my generation. WOW, we've come a long way, but there's still much work to be done! Thanks for republishing

This! Neo-Colonnades (with design guidlines) as-of-right (minimum 4, maximum 14?). Build back the built environment we have lost. Colonnades are/were a large part of the KC aesthetic. Let's lean into it.

Pre-approved infill single-family homes (or Colonnades!) would be such slam dunk in KCMO. So much empty space for it.

😬 No front, and I love our . We try to be "speed cautious" on the cycle tracks, trails, etc. Maybe there's a happy medium, maybe there isn't. We (growing North American cycling as transpo community) are at the forefront of trying to figure this all out... twitter.com/notjustbikes/s

STRONGLY agree. Particularly on the affordable housing statement.

While we knew these buildings were likely toast due to East Village development plans (the leading baseball stadium location), it's still sad to lose them.
Demolition of historic, naturally affordable housing is a huge part of our supply problem, and we do it every day.

I stand by my assertion that transit agency leaders & boards MUST be regular transit riders. No exceptions. It's unacceptable & a slap in the face to riders when those who have power to make decisions about systems are so disconnected from the daily lived experience of riders.
