Can someone explain the npc meme to me?

It basically makes fun of how people on the regressive left have a tendency towards groupthink and repeating the same insults and talking points over and over again, kind of like an NPC. Its mostly devolved into namecalling at this point though.

It wasn't a left or right thing. There was a review for Assassins Creed that had the criticism that npcs don't change their behaviours or speech until major events in the story. Lo Ping mentioned that most of the population acts that way.

There was also a 4chan theory that there's only a set amount of conscious souls on the internet, and population growth means that the overflow is automated/reactive only

So the NPC meme content is so close to their own unironically held views that they think it's an attempt to infiltrate instead of open & obvious mockery? Wow, can't think of a more NPC reaction than that. Reality has outdone fiction.

They think people who call themselves NPCs are trying to trick them into thinking they are actual Resistance members they unironically can't tell trolls pretending to be NPCs from their own members
