Well it's almost 3 years since this article was published. And I have yet to feel any hockey stick "exponential" progress as forecasted! :-O

When I c that curve I feel like there's a bad assumption that neural nets lead 2 the singularity. AI adoption can still look like mobile tho

NVIDIA and google are just now starting AI field teams to work with SIs. We've been doing this for the last few years.

I'm still hopeful, as we are only just starting to see products and services apply research in recent years. Let's see in another 1.5 years.

There is nothing to indicate that neural nets based AI will achieve rudimentary 'sentience'. Perhaps we are not at the hockey stick part yet

Part of this is because despite the hype/bubbles we see out of startups, the traditional enterprise is still clueless about AI.

The papers are outpacing what's actually being used by a factor of 10. Research is actually distancing itself further from industry.

B/c need understanding of AI combined with outside knowledge to understand where narrow AI is practcal & useful. Not many of us - yet.

Don't even get me started on markets outside the US. Let alone on enterprise procurement of non stock dell cpu boxes. (gpus etc)
