Supervision is more blessing than curse. You tell it what you want. "Find stuff like this" more useful than "find stuff".
word2vec likely has the biggest aggregate economic value and is unsupervised

I know right. Depends how define unsupervised. World full of (noisy) feedback. Not enough params to overfit
Not sure I accept the premise. Largest impl of ML in the world is Google search, which leans heavily on unsupervised
