how do you define intelligence ,before simulating intelligence?
the way biological neurons works is different from synthetic neural nets
this is why AGI falls in skepticism!
yeah we simulated bird's aerodynamics by building an airplane,
we simulated fish's hydrodynamics by building a submarine,
but how do we simulate intelligence ? without knowing what intelligence is?

I wonder the same. A matter of definitions, my view: a collective of intelligent agents (eg humans) has general intelligence if for any given problem they can apply a consistent methodology of data gathering and modeling towards successful prediction. Exists and can be replicated
Any specific reason we can't learn these insights? Like if we were somehow able to simulate "billions of lifetimes of experience"? I guess simulating this would already require some insights into the human niche.
The sunk cost of simulating that many experiences in vivo would be prohibitively high. Conversely, simulating it would require unlimited computing power. Imo, anything else is relying on some kind of dualism of mind & body which I thought we had moved past long ago.
When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
