Always amazed at the overlaps between sports and life. My colleagues who do endurance sports tend to perform as endurance athletes at work (consistent and methodical) and the anaerobic ones do as well (sprints of extreme output followed by recovery time)

Have noticed that the same is true for team sport vs individual sport athletes. Both have their upsides and everyone is adaptable, but it’s been useful to know what default mental frameworks someone is working with

Anecdotal, but if I could go through all of the people I've ever hired, the #1 predictor of their eventual success has been having track and field or cross-country somewhere in their life history

Were you track and field? If so, I wonder if it’s a compatibility thing rather than that type being inherently more awesome haha. I have found all types of exceptionalism have been deeply useful when applied correctly, but compatibility can be tricky

I'm trying to think of what this means for someone who isn't really an athlete (my days of competitive golf are 25 years ago), walks a lot, and plays bridge.

This has got to be confirmation bias. Not saying team sports do not teach teamwork but how about those with a military background or those non-athletes who crushed it in their clubs or hobbies.
