    Weird that we have a Labour party funded by union members paying their dues where you have MPs being told not to vocally support striking workers but where you will be expelled if you don't express "unshakeable support" for NATO & disown anyone already expelled (on any grounds).

    It does rather turn out that if you massively cut teacher training provision, and call those who provide it Marxist reactionaries, eventually you get fewer teachers. Who could have seen that coming?

    This used to be me (well, depending how the game technically implements that slider) & now I've moved to an OLED, I will never be this person again. OLED: technologically a slightly better solution but also something that could ruin you as a person (due to quirks of the tech).

    The NYT really should just open up a UK investigations unit, have them pick any half-juicy story from any day’s newspapers of the last fifteen years, and just start poking it to see what happens. The odds of hitting some incredible multi-organisation horrors must be sky high.

    In social service program design you’re endlessly lectured about needs assessment and problem analysis but the fact is the big funders will rain money upon you if you can point to a problem that’s primarily used to justify increased policing + border enforcement

    Have now received three offers of funding for our work with Ukrainian sex trafficking victims. But we have not yet encountered a single Ukrainian sex trafficking victim. Its cringeworthy how much philanthropy wants Ukrainian sex trafficking to be a problem in Ireland.

    Andrew: I attended my first drag show when I was 15 years old. Seeing men dressed up as women (not even “blue”) had a lasting, negative impact on me. There’s something intrinsically sexually subversive about it that is damaging to a young mind.

    As someone without a car & traditionally primarily able to travel long distance via rail, full solidarity with striking workers demanding real-terms wage stability, secure employment, & fair contracts. It's the private shareholders & executives who are the profiteers here.

    In 2016, North Carolina's Republican Governor Pat McCrory ran on his explicitly anti-trans law. His Democratic opponent, Roy Cooper, ran on repealing the anti-trans law. Roy Cooper won the state. Hillary Clinton... hmm... yeah, she didn't.

    If you abandon trans people, then you are no longer the anti-fascist party. You are the $5 gallon of gas party.

    Keep seeing the rail strike referred to as the "biggest since 1989". '89 is critical year for industrial relations in UK: before that date, total strike days taken in any year never went below 1.5m a year, since the end of WW2. After that date, strike days never went above it.
