124 years ago, chemist Svante Arhennius suggested CO2 could create a greenhouse effect. 32 years ago, climate scientist Robert Hansen presented Congress a detailed model of the warming effect through 2020. Now, the evidence that the model did well:

People can line up to do this—for all the world to see— because there are zero social consequences for displaying anti-Indigenous racism in the US.

The Super Bowl is a team named after a derogatory term for indigenous people vs a team named after a group of people who contributed to the genocide of indigenous people. This is the epitome of the United States of America

Ten years ago today, The Lancet retracted Andrew Wakefield’s fraudulent 1998 article claiming the MMR vaccine caused autism. He performed procedures on children unethically, paid kids at a birthday party to give him blood samples, and doctored data. He still claims he was right.

Trump and his enablers are throwing a lavish Super Bowl party at Mar-a-Lago. The estimated cost to taxpayers: $3.4M Once again, they are using public funds to subsidize their own extravagances while cutting public funds for programs that aid the vulnerable. Shame on them.

I have this working theory that more vague the description of your AI startup, the higher your valuation. What does "liberate your data", "allow data to move like the air you breathe”, “we lived and breathed data science”, “AI that delivers impact, not accuracy” even mean?

ALSO. IF YOU SEE ASIANS WEARING FACE MASKS, IT MAY NOT MEAN THEY'RE SICK. IT IS A CONSCIENTIOUS CULTURE. WE WEAR IT AS A PREVENTATIVE FOR OURSELVES TO LIMIT GETTING OR SPREADING ILLNESS. WE DON'T START WEARING NOT AFTER THE FACT. SO DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE WHEN YOU SEE US WEAR IT.😠

Hi, museums! Pls stop asking PoC to come decolonise your racist exhibits, for very little pay, then pat yourselves on the backs for the success, not pay us for the work & ignore emails. The sheer irony, I can’t even... I’m looking at you. It’s been months.

There’s this sly implication that we invite more harassment because we aren’t reacting properly to it. But also that if we aren’t making a hilarious public spectacle we aren’t doing it properly either. We aren’t your puppets.

Can white people please stop giving us advice on how to respond to racist harassment over coronavirus and just come for the racists? I’ve been told ‘you should have...’ by people with literally no idea how unsafe their ideas are.

There's this shitty thing that happens when you learn about the reality of racism, sexism & misogyny. You start to hear it from the mouths of your parents, friends & siblings and you can't ignore it anymore but you'll see how many of them will ignore you when you speak out about it

Our job as reviews is not to tell our colleagues to write the paper we would have written. It is to help them write the best version of the paper they chose to write.

Get this. The richest 1% capture a staggering $19 trillion in income each year. With less than a third of that, if added to global health spending, we could provide high-quality universal public healthcare, at EU standards, *for everyone in the world*. Scarcity is a myth.
