There was also the attempted takeover, which would have been a disaster had it succeeded. Given the situation this nascent organisation found itself in, it’s understandable (if not particularly creditable) that Lansman et al closed ranks.

I defended that more passionately than most at the time. What I don’t want to defend is a continued reliance on such a small pool of comrades- some of whom have undeniably made damaging mistakes- when there’s now a much bigger pool of talented organisers and organic leaders.

it’s great if candidates have a track record, but there are loads of structural barriers to political participation, so it’s unfair to slate those who don’t. Also, at least one NCG candidate has imo done a pretty poor job of defending a questionable record On Here today.

And for fuck’s sake, you don’t join the labour movement to keep your gob shut. One of the healthier aspects of the left is that if there are ten comrades in a room there might be eleven opinions. No comrade should be asked to tug their forelock in left spaces.
