Another surprisingly *blue* compound of trivalent iron: hexakis(urea) iron(III) nitrate [Fe(CON₂H₄)₆](NO₃)₃

This reminds me a photo I made few years ago. It resembles pictures of prehistoric battles, but actually it is a frost pattern on the dirt

Conjecture: the average of first n decimal digits of π after the point never exceeds value 37/7, which is reached after 14'th digit. The proof is probably way out of reach for modern mathematics. Probabilistically, the chance of it being false < 10^(-39000)

It might be my bad English, but for me "belief in meritocracy" is a belief that meritocracy is a good thing. While the article addresses a completely different belief: that the system we are living in actually implements meritocracy. I wonder is this confusion deliberate.

Ahh, apparently, it is well known thing. Parabola axes are also known as "Simson lines" And their envelope is "Steiner deltoid", due to Jacob Steiner who described it in 1856

By the way, here is the equation of the envelope, when three points are (0,0), (0,1) and (a,b)

Take 3 fixed points and draw parabolas through them. Then the envelope of the axes of these parabolas (green lines) is a figure with 3-fold rotational symmetry. I proved it using wxMaxima: But don't have a good explanation of this fact

Probably, [Fe(CON₂H₄)₆]₂[ZnCl₄]₃ - hexakis(urea) tetrachlorozincate At least, qualitative analysis shows presence of Fe(III), Zn and absence of Cu(II). Blue color is due to hexakis(irea) iron(III) complex.

A trivial fact that I never noticed before. Powering is *almost* commutative, satisfying relation x^y = f(x)^g(y), where g∘f=id. I wonder is there a special name for such operation property.
