Twitter seems particularly testy & annoying today. Thought people may want a break so here’s my dog hugging her bunny this morning.

There are 231 Calls for Justice out of the National Inquiry in MMIWG - released two years ago - and the Liberal government hasn’t fully implemented any of them. Not one. After a $92 million inquiry.

Twenty years. Hard to believe. Was fortunate to have a national security beat that took me around the world - to witness the ripple effects of the so-called "War on Terror." Happy to be back writing this for the Star. Thanks for reading:

This is incredible (and I have a very high bar for 9/11 material and podcasts!) What a thoughtful way to reflect.. being out at sea, the death of irony, and George Carlin?! Congrats (and knew you’d be involved in this brilliance ). Loving it.

If Taliban leaders do not act quickly, firmly, publicly against own fighters who tortured Afghan journalists yesterday in KABUL, they’re telling the world they’ve given license to continue doing this

“It was as if the movement had won only by default, through the abject failures of its opponents.” Wonderful, nuanced piece by for looking at women’s rights, the countryside vs. the city & the allies the Coalition Forces partnered with for a forever war

We are encouraged to report that several journalists, and their families, have safely left Afghanistan for safety in other countries. But there are still others who need help. Canada's federal government must finish the job and assist these journalists:

So pleased this rescue worked, and that some of the Afghans who helped The Globe and the Canadian military are safe. But the barrage of “can you help me too” messages I’ve received in the past few hours is a sad reminder of how many were left behind…

No words can describe my feelings & nothing would heal this trauma & pain. I never imagined I’d leave my country like this with a small hand bag. Deeply n sorrow, fearful & heartbroken. All what I hv worked for & all the dreams I had are vanished & left behind. 📍 Airport
