PSA: Attention new creators, apparently never open a @YouTube channel as a channel vs a brand account. If you EVER want to switch to a brand account you’ll lose ALL comments, messages, verification badges, filters for your community settings and your custom url. @TeamYouTube

So if you ever get big enough to where you need outside help, you have to lose everything or give a third party your login information. That seems like 2 very bad choices.

It’s a limitation of the old, deprecated accounts. I have the same issue.

Oh man! That stinks! I was really surprised when they said “Unfortunately, that's the only process that we have and being used by all of our creators for the longest time.” Glad to know I’m not alone!

I don’t understand why it doesn’t then default to a branded account instead of a channel so creators don’t have to be in this position down the line farther in time.
