My own example: whenever I eat with a spoon, I grab it with a full closed hand (it's what I have always been comfortable with). But table manners say I should grab it between my index finger and thumb. I spent my childhood hearing sermons on how to eat. And honestly, fuck that.
Honestly, people should do whatever is comfortable to them. It does bother me seeing people eat with their mouths open but I'm not sure my learned social contract should be above someone else's social contract (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone).
