In a 1598 letter, Elizabeth Russell asked her nephew Robert Cecil to intervene in the stalled petition of bookseller Ascanius de Renialme to become a printer. How many unacknowledged women, I wonder, helped shape the English book trade in such ways?

Just for fun, the most common degrees held by MPs who went to university are*: Politics (20%) History (13%) Law (12%) Economics (10%) Philosophy (6%) and English (4%). Which means that those in power mostly hold degrees now re-classified as 'low value'. *Studee, 2019

The private school system, embodied by Eton, ensures a narrow caste of people run our affairs without the attributes to do so - moral and a sense of duty. Harris at his best. Britain’s overgrown Eton schoolboys have turned the country into their playground
