I left before this, but there was a boy in the water earlier calling for a lifeguard. He was ignored for at least a minute until a woman in the pool pointed it out. He was fine, just trying to get the lifeguard's attention. But still, shouldn't have taken that long.
Near drowning at Langdon Pool shortly after 4pm, the result of understaffing and negligent lifeguarding. @DCDPR needs to answer for this. Lifeless girl pulled from pool by bystander in front of lifeguard in shallowest section. Revived by lifeguard CPR. Ambulance took 10 min+.

I suspect a larger problem, given that a six year old died at Turkey Thicket in 2010. The family sued, pointing out some of the same bad lifeguarding that I witnessed yesterday at Langdon. The Post has a good story on yesterday's near tragedy:http://goo.gl/onXhbJ
