    . looked at global emoji usage and just published it. It’s important to note that the top 5 are 😂,❤️,😍,🤣, and 😊. Counter to what we may think about the state of internet dialogue these days, I think this says a lot about the world.

    These books sit behind my laptop so I can’t see them while I’m working but whenever I shut my laptop, they jump out and surprise me! having this imprint makes me unreasonably proud.

    "But retrospectively it's difficult not to be disappointed, to feel that computers have not yet been nearly as transformative as far older tools for thought, such as language and writing." Lots to dig into and mull over here, especially on memory systems and the mnemonic medium.

    Tools for thought are a beautiful idea—inventions which can “change the thought patterns of an entire civilization.” But that’s a 30 year old quote. Why are they so hard to make? and I try to answer that question and suggest paths forward:
