Honey, GoodRx, FabFitFun, Kite, Dave, Sweetgreen, SpaceX, Riot Games, Tinder, Snap, etc etc. Nothing happening in LA folks, move right along. The common theme seems to be wildly misunderstood businesses outside the SaaS mold of the Bay.

So true. I read so much crap on Twitter from VCs saying stuff like: “LA has an ok consumer start up scene” There’s hard engineering, synbio/biotech, pharma, fintech, everything. Crazy stuff

Totally agree on the misunderstood LA scene although a little confused on the SaaS mold of the Bay comment. The Bay has literally tons of other startups that aren’t SaaS.

You’re absolutely right... the bay has a varied scene. But IMO if you look at the distribution it’s much more concentrated around patterns and then running playbooks for them.
