I had a C5-C6 fusion for my neck a few years ago. Doctors prescribed opioids. I refused to take them. Smoked cannabis instead. Criminal disgrace what is going on in this country, both figuratively and literally.
Just had this done 6 mos. ago. Never took the meds! Doc didn't push them, either. However, he did OK me for a med card, and I'm on my way to getting that right now. Without cannabis, I could NOT live on the daily. Before this, I lived in misery with pain.

Cannabis tea is also an efficient way to consume and is almost “slow release”. I’m an I-502 producer/processor in WA. My hats off to you for expressing your thoughts on this.
Been there, done that with needles in my L5 disc in lower back, usually with longer results. Sorry to hear about your pain but I too use cannabis when needed rather than opioids. Good luck,.

I just had an ACDF and I have a progressive spinal degenerative disease... At 38 as well. I'm about to go through the proper channels for my legal cannabis card, with my doctor's 100% approval. It IS medicine. I've never touched an opioid, because cannabis is where it's at.
Glad you have recovered but that's why seat belts are great to wear.
I live in Washington state. Cannabis is legal here, but one doctor told me if I smoke pot he’d kick me out of the largest medical group in my town because it’s an unregulated drug. I changed doctors.
