If youre white, what #MarcusPeters experienced is a mental health crisis. If you're black, it's a threat to the lives of officers
#MarcusPeters was a school teacher and a recent honors graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
He was unarmed, completely naked, in broad daylight, having a mental health crisis when police shot & killed him.
He never even touched the officer.

Again, mental health professionals face situations where people may harm themselves, others, or even the professional without killing them. Even when we are afraid. Why? Because our jobs don't allow it. If we can do it, so can police.

I tried everything, OC Spray, baton, nothing worked. As I started to shoot him I broke free and help arrived so I did not have to shoot. I did not want to, but nothing else worked. These are very unpredictable circumstances. It is a terrible position to be in. 2/2

As a mental health consumer. Meaning I am mentally ill. This is horrific every time it seems when cops go on a call for a check on a family member they usually end up killing the person to whom the caller was trying to get HELP for.

more as to be done about this. Police shouldn’t be responding to these calls. These are medical emergencies and should be handled by culturally sound, qualified mental health professionals able to de-escalate a Crisis. It has to stop!!! -

Even so...he was without his clothes, that’s a dead giveaway it’s some sort of a mental crisis going on. Imagine if someone had a stroke or heart attack while driving...an ambulance would be called in addition to police. Knowing the man was naked was a sign he was in distress.

I was in the traffic police was intentionally called for the hit and run that’s why they were there not talking about the events that transpired after that I do not agree with
