As an American taxpayer, I heartbroken and disgusted that a single dime of money was used to slaughter so many Palestinians yesterday. But it wasn't dimes - our nation sends Israel BILLIONS of dollars in aid - almost all of it used for weapons and ammunition.

Shaun, I love you and your work. Truly. However, BDS is not what you think it is. It's not a movement aimed at simply deterring bad actions by the Israeli government—which deserve to be deterred and punished. It's a movement with the stated goal of the destruction of Israel.
-
We must advocate for a two-state solution that allows both Palestinians AND Israelis the right to self-determination. BDS is not that.
-
That is exactly what BDS calls for. An end to the colonization of Gaza and the West Bank, full citizenship rights for Palestinians living in Israel, and a right for Palestinian refugees to return to their homes. What part of that do you disagree with?
-
^ what you just described is a one state solution, not a two state solution. BDS supports it because its organizers are advocating for the destruction of Israel as a Jewish state.
-
BDS is fine with either a one- or two-state solution as long as any solution meets those three criteria.https://bdsmovement.net/faqs#collapse16233 …
-
but that third criteria, a full right of return for any descendant of 1948 refugees, is an attempt to create a Palestinian Arab majority in Israel and disband it as a Jewish state. that's not a two state solution.
-
It's an attempt to reverse a massive theft and displacement and to ensure human rights are respected. I don't believe that any government whose existence is predicated on theft and colonization should continue.
-
calling Israel a colonial project is an extreme bastardization of history. half of the Jews in Israel in 1949 consisted of 800,000 refugees from other Middle Eastern countries who were kicked out of their homes during the 1948 war. many of the rest consisted of European refugees.

the 70th nakba falls on the first day of ramadan this year. the feeling is heavy to say the least, but still we say “ramadan mubarak” and hold in our hearts our brethren who have lost so many family and friends and neighbors this week

we palestinians — past, presents and future — deserve peace, deserve our home, deserve our lives

I believe in the boycott & am strongly opposed abhorrent actions of
@netanyahu. As a progressive Jew walking the fine line between ending the occupation & fighting anti-Semitism on the left, I’ve seen ppl in BDS who espouse anti-Jewish bigotry. How do we build a movement for all? - 2 more replies

Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions of Israel must also include banning AIPAC & getting israeli owned u.s. politicians out of u.s. government. As we speak they are attempting to silence dissent.

You can’t source Israeli fruit and vegetables in Ireland anymore because we’ve been boycotting their products for decades.
