I can’t count the # of times my classmates & I feel asleep in our undergrad & graduate libraries during late-night study sessions. Happens all the time. ZERO reason to call police. Did police verify the white, female caller was a resident? How do they know SHE “belonged” there?

Has she been named and thrown out of Yale yet?

Insane. It's finals week at colleges across the country, students are burnt out and exhausted and fall asleep! You ask them if they need coffee or a cookie, don't call the cops. Awful.
-
Tell me about it. I’m currently running pretty much on caffeine and adrenaline. Also, how do some of these kids have time to call the cops? I don’t even have time to fart, I’m too busy preparing, studying, doing mock exams. With that said, back to the grind I go.

In addition to my black son drinking coffee, I now have to worry about my brilliant black daughter going to an Ivy league school. On the heels of what happened to the Native American kids in Colorado please NOTE- America brown skinned people indeed have a RIGHT to be on campus.
-
I can only imagine how this would feel as a parent. My heart hurts for your children but also for you having to live in constant fear for them. Any POC on campus not only has a right to be there but *more* right than their white peers since they worked harder to get there.

Thanks Nick. My most painful racist experience was in law school. Being called the N word cut deeply. I guess I expected higher learning meant enlightened. But there were educated bigots learning the 1st amendment not to benefit society or for justice but to protect racist views.

That chick who called the cops should be kicked out. Plain and simple. And why are FOUR police officers showing up for a woman taking a nap in a room?
#Institutionalracism -
Same reason at least 4 officers came to the Starbucks in Philly. It's part of a pattern to intimidate by sheer numbers and to invoke fear.

Ugh. When I was an undergrad, I fell asleep in common areas on campus all the time. I went to school full time, worked more than half time, & I lived an hour away. I was tired, not a criminal, just like this grad student here. Except I'm white, so no one called the cops on me.
