Wow! My 9 year old daughter was set to learn about slavery in her school. On her own (having learned from my wife & I) she told her teacher that they should've learned all about Africa before they starting learning about slavery... AND HER TEACHER CHANGED THE CURRICULUM!

Great message. PS You’re so smart and your wife a teacher yet you still fell for the “from my wife and I” trick. It’s from my wife and me. Your 9 year old sounds amazing and prob knows that. 
As an adult I have grown more and more curious about Africa each year. Right now I am immensely impressed with the Asian classic Zhuang Zi. I hope and expect to read similar works on African wisdom. Which I know is of ingenious design. They knew complex binary systems & math.
Sometimes teachers hands are tied by their district. This sounds AWESOME. However when I was teaching in HISD, you taught what you were told when you were told or you got reprimanded. Sneak it in whenever you can, I guess.
