While I get what she was trying to say the fact that she even used the word reparation highlights how little she understands the issues. And the problems with her candidacy.

May I ask, how so? Just wondering your take on her usage of the word reparation and how it highlights how little she understands the issue. I'm asking in good faith, just trying to figure out my own thoughts on someone who may be my governor one day.

Chairman Wright seems to be implying that reparations only apply to slavery, which it does not. I'm not arguing about whether or not reparations are due (I believe they are – in both cases). Just pointing out that the 'outrage' here is more of quibble over semantics.pic.twitter.com/8nyZCRuNDs

I did have to do a double-take on the initial statement but after reading I understood and I knew the media headlines would create an outrage. Yes people read the whole article.

Cynthia Nixon will be smeared by neoliberals and their minions because she's progressive and not controlled by the oligarchy or managed by corporate lobbyist. My kind of candidate. Gotta find a few shekels for her somewhere.

Reparation- the making of amends for a wrong one has done, by paying money to or otherwise helping those who have been wronged. The American japanese have received reparations for the concentration camps here. Reparations is not only a term for slavery...

"VS Strategies, a pro-legalization research company in Denver, says the state has pulled in $506 million since retail sales began in January 2014." I wonder the percentage of those profits that benefit black business owners or even the black community in general

Establishment already misrepresenting what she said and using black media personnel to do it.

Her use of the word "reparations" was misguided, but I agree with her argument. The communities that were harmed by marijuana arrests should have an opportunity to benefit from its legalization.

Nowhere in that Post article does it say anything about reparations for slavery. Besides, the Post is known for sensationalist headlines so..

-
So what reparations is she referring to than ??
-
Read the article you linked or SK’s og tweet

-
I read the article .. and she’s saying that setting up marijuana shops in depressed Black neighborhoods could help erase years of oppression that modern day Jim Crow laws have caused
-
Re-read it then bc article doesn’t say anything about Jim Crow
