Having been jailed for 7 straight years without ever being convicted, a judge dismissed his case, and ordered him set free. To my surprise, it never happened. Kevin's still in jail RIGHT NOW. What I am about to tell you is as egregious an offense as anything you'll ever hear.
The State of Louisiana, having jailed Kevin Smith now for 8 years without ever convicting him of a crime, now says they are going to jail him to 2022 for not changing his mailing address properly 8 years ago. He's a for-profit prison. The owners are filthy rich.

We need to end for-profit incarceration and deprivation of the right to vote for inmates who have served their sentences. These two issues are linked, by design.
It was also in Louisiana that Sheriff Steve Prator lamented the release of non-violent offenders because they'd lose "good workers who save them money." Their has got to be a lawyer that likes money that will take this case.
But he was in prison, how was he supposed to change his address?
I mean... they KNEW exactly where he was, so... even if that would normally be a condition for probation or parole how can it be applied to someone who was already in a cell during that time? Why are they so determined to keep him locked up?

There is way more compassion, empathy and justice into the Wild (or even the Jungle) than in the American Justice System! Wild animals are less cruel than these For-Profit prison companies and the judges who enable them to dehumanise the poorest.
