the only part that made me cringe was discrediting filipino men from asian men, aka, south asian/pacific islanders don’t count as “asian,” only light skin north east asians do. filipinos already suffer a lot of discrimination and oppression and erasure in east asian comms.

That's fair criticism. But, I'd expect
@IssaRae to be given some latitude here. Her writing is often biting. She's said some harsh things about black men, of course. Some I don't agree with. That said, she's not Filipino so she may have overstepped, thinking we're all family. - 2 more replies

That may be true, but does clowning mean you can’t be wrong or out of pocket?Forget the black male part of the equation,but the commenting on Filipinos seems out of line, especially trying to insinuate they are intellectually lesser by comparing them the black men in that context
