Several Muslims and immigrants from countries now on Trump's banned list reached out to me yesterday and told me how much it stung to have a man as mainstream as @KanyeWest so boldly proclaim & celebrate the man who has caused them so much pain, anguish, and anxiety.
I absolutely believe that we must stay focused on the greater fight for justice and equality and empowerment. We must. However, we must always forcefully call out ANYBODY who normalizes the bigotry and abuse of Donald Trump. It's not about political parties. It's bigger.
I fundamentally reject the idea that Kanye West is mentally ill and that his support of Trump is a result of that. His family & close friends reject it as well. It's also not a result of his mother dying. I think this move toward Trump-ism is simply the real Kanye.
