This incident was truly horrible. Also, why on earth was the Waffle House charging for silverware in the first place?
If you aren't clear on what happened here - this young woman asked for silverware and Waffle House said it would cost $0.50 extra. She then asked for their number to the corporate office. From my knowledge they always charge for plastic utensils. Yet for them to call the police and for them to handle her in such a manner is out of line and beyond unnecessary.

I dine in at Waffle House often (well I won’t anymore) and get plastic utensils EVERY TIME and have never been charged for them this is insane

I get your point, but the police get paid regardless of what they are doing or not doing on shift. The criminal court system makes the defendant pay costs and the civil court makes the plaintiff pay, unless she wins & the initial civil award is usually greatly reduced on appeal.
