This is my hometown. It is the Capital of California, yet it is less progressive than cities like SF and LA. In many ways, life here - particularly for Black people - hasn’t changed very much since the 70s. Instead of growing out, the city needs to do more “growing up”.

In many ways, Sacramento is *still* a “Cowtown.” We just have many more people here - about 750,000 - in the city, than forty years ago. The city still has a pretty conservative mindset for the 21st century.

When is the election for the Sacramento DA so she can be voted out? She is a public servant that is an elected official and she doesn't want to hear from her constituency. By the way, was that tax payer
that was used to put up the fence to keep her away from the tax payers. -
The election is June 5th!! VOTE
@PhillipsforDA!!!

PS Time to call this fence rental company and let it know what you think of it doing this job. Sound harsh? If people stand up to every erosion of freedom and those who carry out fence, wall, private prison (and polluting pipeline) building, etc, then I think we have a chance.
-
After all, the fence company is being paid with the PEOPLE’S money.
-
Agree. And we, the PEOPLE have the right to protest to protect our rights!!

There will be a new regieme after the Trump magia; this current collection of literal mobsters is taking us to the cleaners and trashing the environment. They fear us. Obama, Bushes, no POTUS ever feared the public like this tyrant and the Neo GOP

I'm not sure you understand what the District Attorney's office does,
@ShaunKing. That doorway is where, all day long, witnesses and victims of violence and sexual exploitation enter to speak with victim's advocates, investigators and, yes, District Attorneys, to seek justice -
Like you, a great many people here in Sacramento are upset about Stephon Clark's killing, but the office of the District Attorney both punishes wrongdoing and gives vindication to those hurt by crimes of all kinds, many extremely serious and horrifying.
-
It does not surprise or upset me that the DA after 4 weeks of these people being harassed en route to to perform a civic duty that the DA act to protect against this and allow victims, witnesses, investigators and ADAs space to do their work
-
Moreover, the case is still being investigated by the SPD, which means it would be inappropriate for the District Attorney to speculate as to its eventual disposition
-
Might be easier to just have their cops stop shooting people of color for no reason. They are PUBLIC servants so fencing off the public shouldn’t be an option
#WhitePrivilege -
Also, working for the good of public doesn’t mean one should be immediately answerable to any member of that public without process or procedure. Teachers and sanitation workers are public servants too and I definitely don’t support the right to keep them from doing their jobs
-
-
"Process and procedure" is a hypocritical fence to cower behind. If "process and procedure" were serving the public good, people would not have to interrupt *their* day to seek redress. It is the police use of "process and procedure" that is leaving innocents dead in the streets.

IT IS STARTING. This is a clear, unconstitutional, physical barrier showing what we have- and what we have is not a govt by the people, of the people or for the people. A disgrace that has to come down. Who'll kick off this petition- any Californians out there?

Dear Public Officials, If you are afraid of the public you shouldn't be in public office. Signed, The Public
