Idk if we can blame the police for a man hanging himself tho idk I didn't read the article so I could be wrong

You should read the article because there’s a lot more to it.
-
Ok article read the police were totally wrong in arresting him and not letting him know about his right to bond out and falsely accusing him of holding drugs.. but what was mentally wrong with him that made him commit suicide is my question & are we blaming the police for that?
-
If you saw all of your efforts to support your family fall apart in an instant, you don't think you'd be distraught? This young man was illegally subjected to torture and threat of irreparable loss of freedom and damage to his reputation that most people can't afford to fight.
-
Idk I would never put myself in his shoes because u never know what type of stress someone is dealing with or what can push a person over the age, I was just curious as to what extent we were blaming CPD for this
-
He didn't put himself in this situation. Police TRACKED. HIM. DOWN. to put him in this situation. We are done.
-
Where did I ever say he put himself in the situation are you even reading what I type?

Do we believe that he actually hung himself or was this one of those jailhouse “suicides” that mysteriously only happen to black people? It’s a tragedy either way, but do we have a reason to trust the police here that we normally wouldn’t have?
-
You never know here. Body cameras & surveillance vidoes "mysteriously" break.

Who gets arrested for $25 fine?! It cost more money to do the paperwork in arrest somebody and hold them than that! It’s ridiculous!

Read the article, there's a LOT more dirt. It alleges they purposely didn't tell him he could have bailed himself out with the cash he had on him, framed him for drugs "found near" him in the holding pen, and then he mysteriously tried to hang himself. Not surprised it's Chicago

Yes, well I don't know, but I think there may have been something else going on there. Did he have a Lawyer? Why did his family not get involved and inform the Courts that it was paid? I don't think anyone would take their life over a parking ticket mix up.
-
Not just the parking ticket. He saw himself in a situation where he was being accused of more and I can't imagine the despair watching yourself be framed. His word against cops means guilty.
-
Well, that may be true, but gosh, what kind of a justice system is that? I mean could he not get a Lawyer to defend him?
-
My guess is that getting a public defender, who is overworked and underpaid and sees a Black man guilty of violence, evading a warrant, and now possession of crack cocaine, would result in the defender pushing for a plea deal. Which would likely still mean jail time for drugs.
