While spending time with a friend who is black I saw white people stare. I saw a white person give her the finger in passing she asked me sometimes when choosing a restaurant Will I be safe here? I continue to be surprised that people are surprised

Read it last night. It’s excellent! We all have to step up and do our part to clear society of all our biases. We all hold them and they are not serving us well.

Likely true, relative to the experience of black men in : “a middle-aged, upper-middle-class white woman who has never had to worry about where I go, what I do, or how I act” but relative to a white man I suspect does. White Women have a version of “the talk” with daughters.
