1. Immigration & customs officers at JFK Airport in NYC just pulled me and my whole family out of the middle of the passport line. We just returned from Cairo. The officer literally called us by name, knew about our trip, and took us away for questioning.

4. We just made it home safely. FYI. Family was shook up a bit at first. Took us all to a secluded questioning room. What I know is that my Muslim friends deal with this ugliness every single day. Officer had clearly been reading my tweets and knew all about me.

Although is common to have checks when having ppl coming from Cairo the fact they called your name that means you are on a list. Now how can you find out what type of list is it. Contact a lawyer and then later request a Foia on yourself. https://www.foia.gov/how-to.html

I'm just thinking some kind of *gentle* confrontation and reassurance might help individuals who suffer that kind of thinking calm down a little and see their fear as a bit silly.
