Barack Obama is a sacred cow to the majority of African Americans. Criticizing him (or Oprah or Beyonce) for almost anything comes w/ guaranteed blowback. It’s not generally advisable politically. I believe in the substance of Bernie’s criticism of the Democratic Party though.

Not this progressive nor my progressive husband. We both still love the man.
-
You can critique some of his positions and still love the man. He was an amazing man, who happened to make a few bad decisions.

-
Oh he was a human being..oh look at that!
-
You act like I'm demonizing him. That's far from what I'm saying.

I followed Bernie in the Primaries & would again in the future. I have lived through a few Presidencies with my earliest recollections of John F. Kennedy's. Obama is a Special Man, a Gift and we are lucky to have lived through his Presidency.

-
I have to state one more thing. On the night of the 2004 Democratic Convention for John Kerry I was with my buddy, a Science teacher I know from Boston, I heard that speech, got the chills down my spine and blurted out "That is our Next Democratic President" John Kerry Lost
-
I don't know how I knew that but I blurted it out in a room full of black men and it was met with laughter and a joke that I must've smoke something! LOL I kid you not. I was apologized to November 2008 4 years later!
Obama is special

As an old white lady, for me, the kind of grace and intelligence embodied by the Obama's will never stop resonating.

Would you care to provide a source for your "...most progressives..." comment or are you just tossing your opinion out there and hoping it sticks?

Doesn't that ignore he was hamstrung with a Congress that wanted to blot him out of history? Hard to accomplish mush without at moderately cooperative Congress. Let's hope that's still true.

Bernie doesn’t actually seem to LIKE anybody or have any friends and as a progressive that is more telling and more of a barrier than any platform or or position he may hold. Otherwise he would’ve used MLK day to HONOR Obama but he just couldn’t extend that respect. Telling.

In his original comments, he didn't even acknowledge him as president. Bernie talked about him as a candidate. I interpreted his comments as disrespectful. Criticism is fine but it's how he said things and what he left out.
