These 'kids' put on the most intersectional, diverse group of speakers ever to stand on a speaker's platform in Washington DC AND talked about privilege. These 'kids' are role models and mentors for adults to follow. They showed us all how to do it.

Lots of us know these kids are not the 1st to protest, nor even the 1st to protest against gun violence. I think a lot of them recognize the debt they owe previous movements. I think they know, "because of them, we can." https://www.facebook.com/becauseofthemwecan/photos/a.165962343453659.38563.164638963585997/1557531157630097/?type=3&theater …

Such a beautiful thing. I’m an old lady in a red state and have SO many peers who can’t/won’t understand what white privilege is.

I am so very proud of all those-I hesitate to call them children-, their natural tendency of inclusiveness puts my generation to shame.

If only the Authorities had done something to stop this. -2 FBI hotline calls.... -18 "911" calls.... -38 home visits by cops... -2 legal attempts at commitment.... -4 sheriffs that refused to enter the school under fire.... -1 ARMED school officer who failed to respond....

They were on the same grounds, they did not witness it first hand, traumatic? Yes. Victims? No.
-
They’re victims in every sense. You don’t know if each teen was in a room w. dead students, walked by them, or were in another wing of the school. Regardless, they were harmed. Victim = A person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or other event/action.

These kids are truly inspiring. I had lost some hope for the future of our country, but they have restored that hope. It’s just awful that it is a result of such a tragedy.

I was once told that I was lucky, bc that privilege came w/ responsibility -to keep up w/the Jones-big house, exp. car, etc.The kids know the REAL responsibility is to stand up for the Johnsons, even while being threatened, called vile names, and assaulted for their beliefs./1

Their "privileged" is to be alive&speaking after a shooter walked through their school taking out classmates and teachers. The fund-raising came from using social media. They're building bridges to unite where others build walls to divide./2

Except the vast vast majority of mentally ill, or those in need of counseling do not harm anyone. Even themselves. These calls for new laws gloss over that critical fact, making a counseling session into some kind of a non safe space.
