Agreed. So far I’ve seen more effort by the Parkland students to address their privilege than almost any other movement with privilege attached to it. It will never be perfect but they are working hard to be inclusive of those shut out for too long.

Yes! If nothing else, you could tell with the lineup of speakers yesterday. They know where they stand, and they are aware of the amplification of their voices over others, and they're remedying it
-
Definitely. We can all gain a lot by listening to the Parkland students, the speakers at the marches, and the marginalized voices who have been shut out for too long. I know I’m listening closely.
-
For sure!

The grown ups. We are the ones who need to elevate the voices of marginalized victims more. Youth is doing its job beautifully. Grown ups have to work harder

#StonemanDouglas students marched down a paved road. The#WomansMarch gets a LOT of credit for paving that road. But lets be honestly, they put pavement down a beaten path. And we have#BlackLivesMatter
to thank for that path.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I don't think that the critique is against the kids, but against those who selective give national coverage and funding- kudos to the kids.

I think, for the most part, the generation coming up is much better at equality.

I noticed this early on. I'm following a couple dozen MSD students. Many post photos and videos from school events prior to the shooting and I saw a much more diverse student body than what the media covered.

The Parkland kids know they are privileged and have been inclusive not exclusive. They have a well rounded view of the issues.

And they are inclusive of others and their situations and that’s what is making them succeed.

You get it, really? I believe the Parkland students do bc they have come face2 face with it which is why they were inclusive. I commend them 4 that but until it was in their school they didn't get it. Shaun I think you think you get it but I doubt ithttps://twitter.com/GeorgeFoster72/status/977916240390971392?s=19 …

We have to be willing to learn from the kids; and in this case the kids have it right. We need to be partners with PoC in ending all forms of systemic oppression because an injury to one is an injury to all.
-
Yes, there have been and are many movements that deserve better than they are getting and racism and classism and ableism are often to blame. That is a very real problem. But that problem does not and should not diminish what these kids started, their message is important.
-
Truly! All of the above can be true.

I’m so glad you said this, Shaun. These kids are legit making an effort to be inclusive and anything that they or others can do to collectively advance the mission is worthy of our support.
