Sounds like dirty bombs, some of these were used in Iraq OIF. They'd booby trap children dolls, dead animals, etc. Suspect probably ex military.
Army Fort Hood is a few hours away. Military may recognize this type of bomb.
Most pipe bombers surround the device with nails or other metal debris. Some are triggered by mercury, others are wrapped in a string connected to the trigger (like a trip wire). The sophistication of the device is not rare, but sadly the racial motive is all too common.
This is big news in Houston. It’s been airing on all local news media.
The media is mostly silent on these terrorist attacks.

Austin is one of the most economically-segregated cities in the country. I just moved (& I still 
it), but it's NOT HARD to pick out a poor area that lacks security and make a pretty good guess about the race of the person opening the box...

No clue on that. You could be right. I mean, it's terrible and insane all around regardless, but the way it exposes geographic racism and classism isn't making anything better.
Hey Shaun, I completely agree it’s disturbing and needs attention. I just wanted to note that these are typical tactics for pipe bombers. My wife and I have been binging “Forensic Files” on Netflix—a show from the early 2000s—and most pipe bomb killers use these same methods.

Right Wing militiamen join the U.S. Military to get top notch military training. After the militiamen serve out their military contract, they bring back their military knowledge & training to their militia organizations to inflict domestic terrorism on civilians and the Feds.
Where is the national media? Their lack of reporting on this evolving situation is disgraceful, given the domestic terrorism implications.
It would be nice if any of these victims jad cameras fixed on the delivery location- porch etc, to see who delivered them. Doesn’t sound like they went thru the fed x or ups system- I hope one of them did
