Has always been one of my primary arguments against religion. Nothing gets people more stabby than thinking someone else is talking to a different imaginary deity, despite a complete absence of evidence for any of them.
It's amazing how many men, women, and children have been murdered by bigots who thought they were murdering someone from a certain faith or nationality - only to find out later they were wrong.
Bigotry is stupid.

The thing is, though, it’s not really wrong since there is no real reason why any random person from any country should be a target. The “true” nationality is completely besides the point of the hate; and so the violence is not a misplacent but completely in line with the bigotry
